Brisbane Music/Art - Exhibition of Indie and Experimental works at the Judith Wright Centre

"The Brisbane Sound" opened last Friday, February 8, at the Institute of Modern Art at the Judith Wright Centre in Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley. It's an exhibition of Brisbane's "experimental music and art in the post-punk years (1978-1983)", and it's running until the 8th of March.

The exhibition will focus on the work of specific individuals who worked in both the musical and visual art scenes in Brisbane, including Ed Kuepper from The Saints and Robert Forster from the Go-Betweens.

There will be special concerts on Friday March 7, Saturday March 8 and Sunday March 9, each curated by one of the featured musos/artists/impressarios. Tickets from Rocking Horse Records cost $30 per concert or $50 for all 3.

The exhibition itself is free - the gallery is open Tuesday - Saturday from 11am to 5pm, and open late on Thursday nights until 8pm.
