If you like proper fish and chips, there's still one place in inner Brisbane where you can get them: George's Seafood in West End. Here you can see a minimum chips (two dollars) and four potato fritters (fifty cents each), for a grand total of four bucks (including salt, and lemon wedges)

Battered, crumbed or grilled fish is between $3.50 and $7 a piece, or there is whitebait for four dollars a serve or a small range of other fritters and sides. George's is also a real fishmonger so you can buy fresh fish to take home.

George's is on Boundary Street in West End, right near the corner of Vulture Street. It's on the same side as the Green Grocer and the Lock'n'Load, only two shops away from the corner.
